Position Description



  • Responsible for counseling, administrative, advisory, and reporting duties related to academic progress of graduate students.
  • Counsels and advises students and prospective students
  • Screens and responds to student and department academic queries verbally and in writing
  • Monitors academic progress towards degree completion
  • Maintains student records
  • Assists in the implementation of policies, procedures, and systems
  • Provides orientation and training in procedures
  • Provides input for the development and revision of informational materials
  • Serves as liaison to other units
  • Participates in special projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree OR an equivalent combination of education/job related experience 

  • 18-24 months academic advising/student services experience.
  • Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional office experience, preferably in higher education administration.
