Position Description

The office of First-Year Experience & Transition Programs is seeking a creative and student-centered professional for the position of Coordinator. This position will coordinate programs targeting retention efforts and new student transition. The Coordinator will oversee the following aspects of their program: develop content, programs, and services for targeted area of coordination; communicate services with students, faculty, and staff as appropriate; provide training for FYE&TP staff and campus constituents (as appropriate) regarding the coordinator’s area of responsibility; and assess success of programs/coordination areas. In addition, the Coordinator position will support undergraduates’ academic success and student engagement via one to one academic coaching, meetings, academic skills/engagement programs and workshops, and through developing print and web-based educational materials. It is essential for candidates to understand how cultural context, differences, and institutional/social barriers influence the student experience in order to apply inclusive planning and strategies for all students. The Coordinator will assist the Director develop unit-wide practices (including academic coaching processes, learning outcomes, and assessment) and with the overall operations of the First-Year Experience & Transition Programs office.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in higher education administration, college student personnel, counseling, education, sociology or related field plus 1 year of full-time academic coaching, academic advising, or student support services experience post-graduation required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student backgrounds necessary.
  • Must have demonstrated organizational and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated project management experience and the ability to develop content, programs and services for targeted area of coordination essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching, workshop facilitation and/or providing training sessions preferred.
  • Experience hiring, training, and developing undergraduate student leadership teams desirable.
