The Coordinator for Student Services in the Department of Aviation at Auburn University is responsible for a multitude of duties in the aviation program, including advising current and future students; planning aviation-oriented outreach events to K-12 schools; communicating aviation updates to alumni and others interested in aviation at Auburn; overseeing the production of marketing materials, including promotional items; and recruiting new students.
Advise/assist with academic related issues such as, course selection, class scheduling, registration, graduation application, choice of curriculum, course load, study habits, financial aid, scholarship/internship opportunities/processes and placement, job skill development, education/career goals, industry policies, and problem resolution;
Develops, coordinates, budgets, and maintains records of projects, programs, and activities which may include, but are not limited to, special alumni events, student ambassador outreach engagements, career fairs, K-12 outreach events, award ceremonies, open-houses, and acts as liaison with representatives from schools, industry and schools/departments in planning and maintaining such events;
Coordinates the development and/or preparation of informational materials relevant to students, alumni, and/or donors such as, but not limited to, updating the website, marketing brochures, press releases, newsletters, social media platforms, and ad spaces.
Submits materials to journals, associations or other external media, either proactively or in response to requests;
Serves as liaison between faculty, staff, and sponsors to advise and/or assist with the preparation and submission of proposals and contracts, review documentation for compliance with university and other applicable guidelines;
Approves, manages, and tracks all undergraduate recruiting activities within the Aviation Department and works with Auburn University's recruiting staff to provide awareness and support materials for all recruiting programs.
Develops and maintains database records while tracking the effectiveness of all recruiting at the undergraduate level; advises and assists with prospective student itinerary and personal tours; develops relationships to establish internships/scholarship with the Aviation Department and participates and/or plans special activities such as orientations, consultations, award ceremonies, career fairs, service (volunteer) projects, guest speaker engagements, and other events; coordinates large or complex projects and/or events within Auburn University as well as outside AU venues/agencies.
Entry into the applicant pool requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Aviation, Counseling, Business, Communications, Engineering, Science, or a relevant field. Employer will consider advanced degrees in lieu of experience.
Desired qualifications include in-depth knowledge and understanding of an aviation program and curriculum course work; direct advising experience with students in a higher education environment; demonstrated experience with developing marketing campaigns, program development, presentations, and assessment are highly valued; current knowledge of Banner Student Module software and familiarity with Auburn University academic policies and procedures.
