MIDDLESEX COMMUNITY COLLEGE JOB OPPORTUNITY DIRECTOR OF ACADEMIC ADVISING
- Full-Time, 12-month, Tenure Track
- Projected Start Date – June 2018
- Hours: 35 hours per week
- Salary: $63,093 - $67,327
This position reports to the Dean of Students. The Director of Academic Advising is responsible for designing, developing and implementing an advising program which meets the needs of new and returning degree-seeking and non-degree-seeking students. This includes maintaining an active student advising load; coordinating advising done by faculty, non-teaching professional staff, and short-term advising staff; providing advisors with training and current advising materials, handbooks and other resources to support a high quality advising program; serving as first point-of-contact for students interested in pursuing General Studies or Liberal Arts & Sciences degree programs; assuring all students are assigned to appropriate advisors and monitoring those assignments to facilitate strong faculty/student relationships within the academic community. Substantial knowledge and practice required in academic advising methods and systems and academic and skills assessment methods, inclusive of transfer planning and career exploration. Ability to work directly with students individually and in group settings. Proven success in providing programmatic leadership in a higher education environment, with particular emphasis on program development, implementation, review and reinvention. Must have prior supervisory experience. Skilled in forming and maintaining collaborative relationships with College administration, faculty and staff. Adept at developing effective communication models to transmit necessary advising information including online, print and other methods. Assist with the coordination of registration events.
