OVERVIEW:Employment Status: Full time, "exempt" position.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, occasional evening and weekend hours.

The Office of Undergraduate Studies at California State University, San Bernardino, supports university-wide student success initiatives and runs a suite of programs to support student learning and to promote retention and graduation. These include Testing and Tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, Educational Opportunity Program, TRIO SSS program, the Honors Program, Peer Mentoring, the First Year Seminar. Advising and Academic Services (AAS) is part of Undergraduate Studies, and provides advising for students who are undeclared, on probation or subject to disqualification, and who to student are in need of developmental math or English courses. AAS collaborates on campus-wide advising initiatives including Peer Advising, Student Orientation Advising and Registration (SOAR) program, the EAB Campus resource for predictive analytics and intrusive outreach to students, and works with professional and faculty advisors from across the university to meet the university's academic advising goals and to promote timely graduation. In addition AAS makes recommendations to the Dean of Undergraduate Studies regarding academic policy and issues relating to student success.
CSUSB seeks in the incumbent strong leadership, interpersonal and administrative skills, with broad knowledge of administrative and leadership functions including strategic and operational planning, budgeting, human resource management in a shared governance environment, student advisement and outcomes assessment, faculty, staff, and student development, program planning and deep understanding of the role of advising in a comprehensive public university. The incumbent must demonstrate strong ability to work in a diverse environment, strong verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and constituencies including faculty and advising community, students and parents, staff admissions and records, and administrators.

•Master's degree in educational counseling or related field; doctoral degree preferred.
•Experience with academic curriculum and policy development in a university; experience within the CSU or another large university is preferred.
•At least five years of progressively responsible experience in academic advising and mentoring undergraduate students.
•Experience advising and mentoring undergraduate students.
•Experience supervising multi-functional teams and collaborating on large-scale projects.
•Demonstrated experience in working with and implementing programs in a diverse environment.
•Knowledgeable about general education requirements and academic advising practices for transfer and undergraduate students.
•A broad educational perspective and an appreciation of the unique and common needs of the university's departments, colleges, campuses, and units.
•Demonstrable success in working with an advising team to achieve well-defined goals at the college or university level.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, presentation and critical thinking).
•Proven record of collaborative leadership, commitment to student success and to advising undergraduate students; and high standards of professionalism.
•Demonstrable evidence of the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with faculty, staff, administrators and a diverse student population.
•Energetic and effective leadership for strategic planning, with the ability to inspire, empower, and provide a clear structure for the advising team that allows them to thrive in their roles.
•Timely decision-making after listening and communicating broadly to build consensus.
