Position Description

Fielding Graduate University seeks an experienced Graduate Program Advisor to help guide and support our students through their academic programs. This position is based out of our Santa Barbara, CA headquarters.Fielding Graduate University is committed to social justice and diversity, and encourages individuals from historically underrepresented groups to apply.


As part of our centralized Advising Office, the Graduate Program Advisor acts as the primary point of contact for students with questions regarding program requirements, academic progress, and graduation requirements. Acting as a guide, the Graduate Program Advisor provides students with an understanding of our administrative processes, policies, and deadlines. In addition, the Graduate Program Advisor will provide new student orientation and advisory services during our educational sessions. Other than new student orientations and national sessions which occur twice per year, primary communication with students is via email and telephone.

Required Qualifications 
Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree. Applicants must have 2 – 3 years of experience in counseling, advising, or educational administration. The ideal candidate will possess a professional, collaborative, and upbeat approach to their work. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines are essential to success in the role. Applicants should have exceptional organizational and time management skills. This position will work with several programs and the ability to manage both detail and complexity will be crucial. Applicants should have advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Education, Counseling or a related field is highly preferred. Previous experience with graduate and/or professional school advising is preferred.Proficiency with any of the following is desirable: Zoom, Ellucian (Datatel) Colleague, Informer, SharePoint, WordPress, YouCanBook.Me, MS Access, and Google Apps for Education.
