Position Description
The Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno seeks a 12-month, full-time lecturer with expertise in psychology to teach at the undergraduate level and to serve as a department undergraduate advisor. This is a continuing, state-appropriated, non-tenure track position. Lecturers at the University of Nevada, Reno enjoy significant benefits and considerable status (see www.unr.edu/hr/benefits). The successful candidate will join a faculty noted for excellence and innovation in undergraduate education. This lecturer will (a) liaise with the lead department adviser to advise incoming, transfer and continuing undergraduates on all major, minor, and general academic requirements, (b) track student retention and progress toward degree completion, (c) work with faculty to assess student outcomes and foster student success, and (d) develop and teach lower-division psychology courses (e.g., introductory psychology). A Master’s degree in Psychology or a closely related field from an accredited institution is required. Preference will be given to applications received by October 31, 2015. Review of applications will begin November 1, 2015, and will continue until position is filled. The University of Nevada, Reno, the land-grant University and major research institution in the state, has a student body of approximately 20,000. The University is situated in Reno, a metropolitan area of 350,000, on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The city is conveniently located 38 miles for Lake Tahoe, a world-class skiing area with limitless summer and winter recreational opportunities.
