Position Description

The OneStop Advisor provides support to students, prospective students, alumni, and parents for common enrollment and advising questions and procedures. This person is the primary on-campus resource for students seeking General Advising appointments, either scheduled in advance or on a walk-in basis. They collaborate with the Registrar’s Office and the Transfer Advisor to ensure that forward-facing curricular materials are kept current. Additionally, they assist with the programs for new students hosted by OneStop.

Required Qualifications

  • The preferred candidate will have experience at a liberal arts college – as a student and/or staff member. Experience working in college student services is a plus.
  • The preferred candidate will demonstrate knowledge of UNCAsheville’s curriculum, academic policies, and resources available to support students.
  • The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and demonstrate experience in working collaboratively with a broad range of students, staff, faculty, and community members. Significant experience using social media as well asusing word processing and spreadsheets for tasks such as announcements, mail merging, and data collection/reporting is preferred.
  • Experience and expertise with Banner Student information systems is a plus, as is experience in the use of Camtasia software.
  • An understanding of the academic challenges faced by college students from a variety of backgrounds is a plus.
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, will be committed to being a reliable and positive contributor to team efforts, and will demonstrate flexibility and self-directedness.
