Position Description
The Coordinator of Cross Campus Advising (CCA) supports undergraduate students in the process of changing their major or those in need of general academic advising.  As part of the Student Success Center, the Cross Campus Advising program promotes intentional academic decision making by conveying relevant programmatic information, facilitating academic exploration, encouraging short and long term planning, and making referrals to appropriate campus resources. The Coordinator oversees all CCA service delivery to students by supervising professional and peer advisors. After establishing a comprehensive understanding of college curriculums, advisors assist students who are ineligible to declare or continue in their major of choice due to academic or curricular deficiencies. Using the Appreciative Advising framework in individualized meetings, students create a plan for meeting entry requirements, identify alternative programs if needed and register for the appropriate courses.

Duties
•Provide direction for Cross Campus Advising program. Supervise professional, graduate, and undergraduate staff. Develop policy and procedure for CCA service delivery based on best practices.
•Partners with college liaisons to ensure accuracy of program information and appropriate course selection.
•Trains and supervises professional advisors and peer educators.
•Develops and executes assessment and evaluation of CCA programs. Provides reports for immediate supervisor and campus partners.
•Meets individually with students who are seeking guidance regarding multiple academic programs, planning for admission to specific programs, or exploring alternative goals and assists the student in selecting appropriate courses that will apply to their anticipated program(s).
•Monitors academic progress of all students assisted and keeps detailed and accurate records of all student appointments, phone calls and e-mail correspondence.
•Creates individual contracts with each student to specify a deadline for making academic decisions and applying for admission to the major of choice.
•Refers students to appropriate campus resources as indicated.
•Assists student affairs ombudsman with troubleshooting student and parental concerns.

Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Student Personnel Services or a related field and 2 years related experience, or a bachelor's degree and 4 years related experience.  The individual must be able to exercise excellent professional judgment and discretion, making decisions on a regular basis that impact student welfare and the institution. Knowledge of academic success programs and student development theory is necessary. Ability to work collaboratively across organizational lines and coordinate the efforts of multiple areas is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience coordinating and assessing student or academic programs in a higher education setting, preferably including supervisory experience.  Experience working with academic advising or counseling is preferred.
