Allied membership
with the National Academic Advising Association encourages cooperation
and joint programming with other organizations that support the
purposes of NACADA. Allied membership is open to sub-regional,
statewide, metropolitan, provincial, institutional, or other organizations
that meet the following requirements:
Organizational
Requirements:
- Have goals consistent with or complementary
to NACADA goals
- Have a mechanism for identification
of leadership
- Have at least one individual in a
leadership role who is a member of NACADA
- Have a desire to work cooperatively
with NACADA
- Allied Organization Membership fees
will be paid to NACADA.
- Liaisons (contact persons) are required
to be NACADA individual members.
- Keep NACADA Regional Chair apprised
of organization's activities and of the name and address of
at least one contact person

of Allied Membership:
- Access and use of NACADA mailing
lists on a reciprocal basis in accordance with current NACADA
mailing list policy
- Publication of activities in the
regional communications at the discretion of editor
- Identification of organization as
"An Allied Member of the National Academic Advising Association"
- Inclusion of representatives who are
NACADA members on Regional steering and planning committees
when possible
- Expanded political base from which
to advance the goals of the organization
- No legal involvement, connection,
or obligation to the organization on the part of NACADA

participation at meetings of the allied member
- Opportunity for heavily populated
NACADA regions to organize by state and sub-regions so more
people can be actively involved in leadership positions
- Broadens the membership base of NACADA
to include others who focus on the development of students in
higher education

or obligation to the organization on the part of NACADA
Application
Process:
- The allied member category is an
option in NACADA’s membership brochure and Regional Chairs
encourage appropriate organizations within their regions to
become allied members. Upon request from the organization or
a Regional Chair, the Executive Office sends interested organizations
an application along with guidelines, requirements, and benefits
of allied membership.
- The completed application
will be sent to the Executive Office.
- Once the membership application is
approved the Executive Office will notify the new allied member.
Reporting:
- The Regional Division Representative
and the NACADA Regional Chair, in their bi-annual board reports,
will report the activities of the allied member organizations
to the NACADA Board of Directors. It is the responsibility of
the Allied Member to present evidence of their activities and
compliance with the guidelines to their appropriate Regional
Chair.
- The Executive Office will maintain
an on-going allied member list with current contact/liaison
persons, just as a list of regular members is kept.
- Annual membership renewal letters
will be sent each year to allied members through their liaison
representatives, just as letters to regular members.
- The membership year will be for one
year.
- A membership list of the allied group must be provided to
NACADA.
