TOUR #2--THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2003
COWBOYS, COWGIRLS & CULTURE TOUR (FORT WORTH)
  9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., $45.00

Step back into the Old West in Fort Worth’s magnificent Sundance Square. See restored turn-of-the-century buildings nestled among towering skyscrapers while learning the fascinating and colorful history of Cowtown. Founded as an army outpost in 1849 to protect settlers from Indians, Fort Worth was once home to legendary figures, cattle barons and rough and rugged cowboys. Guests will enjoy a walking tour of Sundance Square, today known for its unique shops, specialty restaurants, theaters and museums and hear legends from the days of yesteryear when Butch Cassidy, the Sundance Kid and other notorious bandits of the Wild West lived, played and even died here. Guests will tour the Sid Richardson Collection of Western Art and the spectacular Water Gardens. In addition, guests will get to see the Bass Performance Hall from the outside. The magnificent Bass Performance Hall is the last great performance hall built in the 20th century and arguably one of the five greatest halls in the world.

Next, enjoy a brief walking tour of the Stockyards Historic District, once the second largest U.S. livestock market and now a major entertainment center. This charming area exemplifies the days of the Old West with lively western saloons, quaint shops and delicious restaurants. Cowtown Coliseum, home to the first indoor rodeo, is a favorite site as well as Stockyards Station, a train station containing unique Texas shops. Here, guests will take pleasure in free time to explore the district and enjoy lunch on their own in any one of the great restaurants.

Our final stop will be Fort Worth’s newest attraction, The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame where guests are sure to catch the cowgirl spirit! Fort Worth’s National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame features stories, tributes, and artifacts that exemplify the “can do spirit” of cowgirls everywhere. The museum offers inspiring, real stories of courage and fortitude that transcends gender. Gain insight into women who often came from ordinary circumstances, but lived in an extraordinary way in order to accomplish goals. These women are united not by a specific occupation, but by a significant sense that allowed them to inspire their own unique expedition. A fascinating journey!
