to OACADA's President's Corner!
The
National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) reached a milestone
this fall at the national conference in Baltimore this fall. Ten
thousand members now belong to NACADA. The Oklahoma Academic Advising
Association (OACADA) is proud to be an allied member of NACADA.
What a great resource for all of us in the academic advising profession.
The OACADA spring and fall conferences,
and the NACADA regional and national conferences give us opportunities
to present our research and to gain the knowledge that we need
to do our jobs and serve students. I challenge you to stay current
in this important field of academic advising and to submit a
proposal to the next conference.
I am honored to serve
as the president of OACADA and can only strive to serve our
organization as well as my predecessors. As academic advisors,
we all serve as student advocates and it is heartwarming to
know that in Oklahoma we have such caring professionals on our
campuses. Please feel free to contact any member of the steering
committee or myself if you have suggestions or would like to
become involved in a leadership role. The steering committee
welcomes you to join us at any meeting during the year.
