Mission #1 - Champion the educational role
of academic advisors to enhance student learning and development
in a diverse world.
OBJECTIVE A: Identify the various advising constituencies
with which to foster collaborations, e.g. parents, employers,
continuing education professionals, deans, provosts, presidents,
distance learning administrators, admissions professionals,
registrars, other advising associations, members of disciplined-based
organizations, alumni.
OBJECTIVE B: Foster collaborations among the faculty
constituencies.
OBJECTIVE C: Begin a national/international dialogue
on academic advising's educational contributions.
Mission #2 - Affirm the role
of academic advising in student success and persistence, thereby
supporting the institutional mission and vitality.
OBJECTIVE A: Enhance NACADA's global visibility and
credibility as the resource for concerns and needs involving
academic advising.
OBJECTIVE B: Influence campus decision-makers, e.g.,
presidents, provosts, deans, to support the value of quality
academic advising.
OBJECTIVE C: Designate a percentage of Research Committee's
budget for the support of studies on persistence and success
as connected to academic advising.
Mission #3 - Anticipate the academic advising
needs of twenty-first century students, advisors and institutions.
OBJECTIVE A: Identify, prioritize and address the critical
issues facing advising in the future.
OBJECTIVE B: Identify, prioritize and address the critical
issues and constituency groups that have been identified and

the organizational structure.
