ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR PROGRAMS

The National Academic Advising Association has an opening for an Associate Director for Programs to work closely with the Executive Director and Associate Director for Administration in implementing the Strategic Plan of the Association through effective Association Management strategies to meet the needs of the membership and to advance the Association. The person in this position will have primary responsibility to ensure appropriate levels of support for Association programs, initiatives, and content of professional development services provided by the Association.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Staff Supervision – Provide leadership and vision to the program/content areas including all publications (electronic and print), content for all professional development events, webinars, and any future program initiatives, such as broadening research in the field. Hire, train, coach, and evaluate personnel in these areas. Collaborate with the Associate Director for Administration to meet the needs of the Association for marketing and public relations.
  • Administrative Support Systems-Division Liaisons – Work with staff in serving as liaisons to the various Division units, and serve as a liaison to the Commission/Interest Group Division. Provide support and guidance for the Chairs in the division. Provide guidance to volunteer leaders in addressing the Association’s strategic plan and member needs. Work with the individual Committees and Advisory Boards to address issues relative to each in support of the Association.
  • Marketing – work with the Marketing Manager and Associate Director for Administration to ensure a viable and effective marketing to enhance all programming aspects of the Association, its mission, its events, its publications, and the field of advising in general.
  • Membership Services – Work with the Associate Director for Administration to ensure that member services are accurate, dependable, and efficient. Includes awards program, product sales, member services, event registration and information, association news distribution, and member assistance.

Qualifications include:

  • Master’s degree required; Doctorate preferred
  • Five years required (ten years preferred) in advising or student-related positions at institutions of higher education with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Experience in academic advising and/or advising administration (required)
  • Demonstrated expertise in program development and management (required)
  • Demonstrated publication in the field of academic advising or student success (required)
  • Understanding of research in the field of advising (required)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills (required)
  • Effective inter- and intra-personal communication skills (required)
  • Demonstrated skills in supervision and human resource management (required)
  • Ability to travel periodically, both domestic and international (required)
  • Member of NACADA (required)
  • Experience with grant writing (preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management (preferred)
  • Experience with conducting research in the field of advising (preferred)

This is a 12-month position with a salary range of $70,000 - $80,000.
