Position Description
Southern Utah University,
located in Cedar City, Utah, is seeking applicants for the position
of Academic College Advisor for the College of Humanities and
Social Sciences. The desired start date is August 1, 2008. Salary
is $30,000; excellent benefits. There are two general purposes
for this position: (1) Advise and counsel freshmen and sophomore
students. Assist in advisement and counseling of junior and senior
students as required by departments in HSS. (2) Assist the academic
dean and department chairs with the aspects affecting the student-body
as required (i.e. curricula articulation, recruitment, admission,
retention, tracking and assessment).
Duties
• Advise and counsel
students by assisting them in forming graduation plans and course
schedules in accordance with university advising policies and
procedures.
• Keep abreast of current

credits into the College (with assistance from the chairs).
• Serve as the articulation
representative for the College on statewide committees.

and determine eligibility for advancement to upper-division major
course work.

• Be responsible for
maintaining files and a database of students and alumni.

• Update SUU catalog
information annually.

department chairpersons and faculty in preparing presentations,
booths at schools or conferences, etc, for recruitment purposes.

and registration during University Orientation, Welcome Week and
transfer school visits.
• Other duties as assigned

• Teach, as needed,
one or two sections of UNIV 1000, Student Success Course.
• Create and maintain
a web advising site.

and Convocation exercises.
Required Qualifications
• Master's degree is
required, preferably in the fields of student personnel, counseling
or higher education administration. (Applicants with minimum of
18 graduate credit hours with definite degree completion date
may be considered.)
• Excellent human relations,
oral and written communication skills required.
• Computer experience
with student information system programs, word processing, spreadsheets,
databases and/or other computer programs mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
• Professional work
experience in academic advising at a college or university level
strongly preferred.
• Experience with graduate
programs, admission requirements and acceptance guidelines helpful.

is made up of academic programs in agriculture, biology, chemistry,

The W. P. Carey School of Business seeks an Academic Success Specialist,

Position Description
The Assistant Director takes a lead role in the development and
coordination of programs that enhance awareness of the many and
varied aspects of Asian/Pacific American cultures. Another important
role is that of supervising, advising, and working with individual
students and student groups and providing appropriate support
for them related to their specific concerns. The Assistant Director
will also be involved in teaching, training, consulting and other
activities that will assist others in enhancing their multicultural

UNM- Taos invites applicants for the Taos Student Success Associate.
The successful candidate will work with special student populations,
