Assistant Director

Early Advantage (Full-Time) MBA Program

Position Description:

The Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College is seeking an Assistant Director to manage the day-to-day operations of the Early Advantage (Full-Time) MBA Program, manage support functions for the Program Director, students, and faculty and assist the Director in ensuring all prospective and current students comply with Crummer policies and procedures.

Duties:

Primary responsibilities include providing academic counseling to MBA Students individually and in teams; coordinating the planning and implementation of orientation sessions with faculty; partnering with Office of Student Records to communicate registration dates, online registration instructions, and important information to students; conducting Program of Study and transcript audits to ensure that students are in good academic standing and are on track to graduate; assisting faculty with course and exam schedules, e-mail distributions, and adherence to the School's policies and procedures; overseeing the MBA and Women's MBA Associations for the Full-Time students; coordinating academic program for international exchange students; as a member of the Admissions Committee, conducting interviews in person and by phone, and evaluating applicants in order to recommend for admission into the EAMBA program; representing the College through community and industry involvement in order to maintain and enhance the reputation of the Crummer Graduate School of Business and completing special projects and reports for Director as requested.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred); ten years exempt-level professional work experience with demonstrated success in counseling or related field (preferably in a graduate academic environment) or related field in business; excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to positively interact with individuals on all levels to achieve common goals (students, parents, faculty, staff, etc.); strong organizational and problem-solving skills to meet deadlines with minimal supervision, as well as administrative and customer service capabilities; must be able to work with the Director to propose, develop and implement program initiatives; effective planning and strong managerial skills required; strong proficiency with personal computers and word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation software, and the Internet; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to contribute ideas to improving internal processes; excellent coaching, counseling, and supporting skills; must be able to travel with the Full-Time MBA class on the Global Research and Study Project (GRASP) international trips to help ensure a highly productive learning experience; must be able to travel and participate in graduate school fairs and other Crummer-related events (local, domestic and international); work flexible hours which includes evenings and weekends; must exercise sound judgment and decision-making by ensuring interpretation and communication of policies and procedures are consistent and accurate; ability to keep student information confidential; previous supervisory experience and possess a valid Florida driver's license, accessible transportation and a good driving record to attend work-related events.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree and two years of appropriate experience or a Bachelor's degree and four years of appropriate experience is required. Fund raising experience and excellent oral and written communication skills required along with ability to work independently, set goals, manage multiple tasks and work with a variety of constituents including multiple departments, coaches and Booster Club Members.

Preferred Qualifications:

Student Services Assistant/Intern

Position Description:

This position is for an individual to learn and assist the student-athlete support services staff. The goal is to expose the individual to the various aspects of the program so they will be prepared to seek a full-time position at the conclusion of their experience.

Duties:

Assisting the athletic academic services staff with the day-to-day operations of the department. This includes serving as an academic mentor; assistance with the supervision of study hall; assistance with the tutoring program for student-athletes; assistance with the CHAMPS/Lifeskills program; other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director of Academic Services, Learning Specialist and advising staff.

Required Qualifications:

For an internship, Bachelor's degree; strong organizational and computer skills (Microsoft Office); ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet established work deadlines; ability to work evenings, Sundays and occasional weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree. Previous experience in collegiate athletics and/or academic counseling and advising; interests in pursuing a career in intercollegiate athletics - specifically advising.

Director of Retention and Transition Programs

Position Description:

The University of North Florida is searching for a Director of Retention and Transition Programs (Position Number 335940). The position is a full time, 12-month position in Academic Affairs reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Undergraduate Studies. The director is responsible for new student transition, and developing and coordinating programs designed to support the effective retention and graduation of first-year and transfer students consistent with the strategic goals of the University.

Duties:

Among the responsibilities of this position, the Director will: coordinate and assess a comprehensive First Year Experience program, including residential and non-residential learning communities, peer mentoring, summer reading programs; identify research-based best practices for improvements and changes to programs in an effort to increase student retention; develop programming in support of transfer student transition; consult with college deans, department chairs, program directors and faculty to designate appropriate courses and academic programming for first-year programs and residential and non-residential learning communities; collaborate with a variety of units and staff involved in retention-related programming; coordinate residential academic support activities with the Student Affairs, academic support programs and Residence Life; monitor success of first year students and develop intervention plans for at-risk and academically struggling first year students; collaborate with Institutional Research to gather and analyze data regarding the contributing factors to retention and graduation, to inform programming decisions; employ gathered data and analysis in assessing and reporting the success of implemented programs; and attend conferences and workshops related to retention and the first-year experience and participate in associated professional development activities.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a master's degree and six years of relevant administrative leadership experience with an emphasis in student development and first-year student experience programs; a strong preference will be given to those individuals with an earned doctoral degree.

Athletic Academic Advisor

Position Description:

Under minimal supervision, develop and implement comprehensive academic support services for student-athletes. Provide guidance and advice to student athletes on such matters as course selections, course prerequisites, career planning, and continuing higher education. Provide other counseling services regarding student athletic academics or other aspects of student athlete life. Serve as a liaison between student-athletes, professors/instructors, academic staff, and coaching staff regarding academic progress. With the assistance of the Eligibility Specialist, monitor progress toward degree and other eligibility rules for respective teams. Make referrals to other agencies or offices as required. Assist with student recruitment/retention and serve on special committees as needed. Coordinate all efforts of at least one aspect of the CHAMPS/Life Skills program. May act in a lead or supervisory capacity.

Required Qualifications:

The Athletic Academic Advisor II position requires a Master's degree in counseling, education, sports administration or in a field related to the type of counseling provided and two years of athletic student academic counseling at the Division I, II, or III level. A bachelor's degree in counseling, education, sport administration or in a field related to the type of counseling provided and four years athletic student counseling experience at the Division I, II, or III level may be substituted for the Master's degree and work requirement. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and Academic Performance Rate (APR) required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree preferred. 3-5 years fulltime academic experience at a Division I level institution and some supervisory experience are preferred. Fulltime experience with Men's Basketball and/or Football.
