Assistant
Director for Career Development ~ Liberal Arts & Sciences
(Requisition No. 0800111) is part of the Career Development Team.
Duties
Provides career related counseling services to all UF students
and administer and interpret a variety of career assessments.
Serves as advisor for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
(CLAS) students. Will develop and deliver career development programs
for the college of liberal arts and sciences (CLAS) students,
working closely with student organizations and the Academic Advising
Center to engage a maximum number of students within the above
population in the career development process to ensure retention
and graduation within an appropriate time frame. Will further
develop and deliver programs on considering graduate or professional
school for CLAS students. Evaluates the effectiveness of the aforementioned
programs. Participates in career fairs conducted by the CRC. Maintains
current knowledge of research and trends addressing issues relative
to liberal arts and sciences students, making this data available
to colleagues and employers. Salary $40,000 + competitive benefits.
Required Qualifications
Qualifications: Master's degree in appropriate area and 2 years
experience.

of Fellowship Communication Program. This position oversees the
recruitment and advisement of students on prestigious fellowships
and scholarships. This position is part of the Office of the Vice
Provost for Graduate and Undergraduate Studies in Academic Affairs.
This is a full-time position that reports to the Director for
Undergraduate Studies. Program Overview: The Director of Fellowship
Communication oversees all aspects of the Fellowship Communication
Program. The Fellowship Communication Program assists student
applicants for prestigious scholarships and fellowships such as
Rhodes, Marshall, Gates Cambridge, Churchill, Fulbright, Mitchell,
Soros, Jack Kent Cooke, Udall, Goldwater, and others. The Fellowship
Program is designed to help Georgia Tech students determine scholarships
for which they qualify, advise them about opportunities, and help
them learn how to prepare for future applications. The Director
and Associate Director provide feedback to Georgia Tech students
about their writing for nationally competitive scholarship applications.
Duties
Primary responsibilities of the Director:
• Supervise program staff (Associate Director, Graduate Student
Assistant).
•
Work with College Deans to involve faculty and staff in promoting
applications for nationally competitive awards.
• Identify and mentor students (both undergraduate and graduate)
with potential to compete for distinguished fellowships.
•
Advise students about courses and extracurricular activities that
will enhance their applications.
•
Coach students as they prepare essays for application packages.
•
Work with faculty to run mock interviews to groom candidates for
fellowship interviews.
• Write nomination letters as needed.
• Monitor the regulations governing scholarship and fellowship
programs, including deadlines and application materials.
•
Develop and present information sessions about competitive fellowship
awards.
• Oversee student recognition events.
• Monitor the program budget and prepare an annual report.

Qualifications
A
Ph.D. is required. The successful candidate must possess excellent
communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work well
independently, and skills to collaborate effectively with students,
faculty, administrators, alumni, agencies, and parents. Discretion,
excellent organizational ability, and attention to detail are
essential.
Preferred
Qualifications
A
minimum of 5 or more years of experience in a relevant area of
academic advising and/or administration, and knowledge of competitive
award programs is desired.
