Position Description
Dickinson State University is seeking highly qualified applicants for the position Director of the Academic Success Center (ASC). The Center provides unique learning opportunities for students and faculty in the area of academic excellence. It provides direct services to students through academic assistance, monitoring, and intervention designed to help students succeed in the university environment.

Duties
Reporting to the Vice President of Student Development, the director supervises, implements and administers all aspects of the Center
including policies and procedures, budget and finance, and strategic planning. In addition to managing the ASC, the director is also
responsible for the supervision of learning assistance services for Dickinson State University, including services to students with disabilities, the writing center, peer tutoring and First Year Experience programming.

Required Qualifications
A Master’s degree in Educational Administration, Student Personnel Services, Counseling, or related field is required. A minimum of five
years experience in a progressively responsible position in an educational setting, preferably a community college or university environment, is required. Strong organizational abilities and superior interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential for success in this position.

Preferred Qualifications
A Ph.D. is strongly preferred. Candidates who have used Academic Intervention Techniques, who have knowledge of issues facing first
generation students or possess experience in academic administration, will be given first preference.

Position Description

The Director of First Year Experience reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs Office and interacts with many constituencies on campus including the Office of Academic Affairs, faculty, and many service offices

Duties

The Director of First Year Experience supervises 6 full-time staff members, graduate assistants, and several undergraduate student workers. This position is responsible for providing leadership in certain retention activities that include advising undecided students on academic probation, first year seminar, learning communities, a pilot sophomore initiative program, mid-term warning to undecided students, and parent services program. This position is also responsible for approximately $350,000 non-salary budget.

Required Qualifications

Earned Masters Degree in Student Development/Higher Education or related field is required with 5 or more full-time years in Student Affairs or related field.

Position Description

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Iowa State University has an immediate opening for an Academic Advisor II.

Duties

Duties for the position will include advising undergraduate electrical and computer engineering students in all academic matters including curricular requirements, degree audits, policies, and procedures; generating, maintaining, and using academic records in both paper and electronic form; participating in summer orientation; assisting in planning, developing, and teaching orientation and program planning courses for electrical and computer engineering students; writing reference letters and facilitating the identification and placement of students in full-time, internship, and co-op employment; planning and/or participating in recruiting and retention activities; and coordinating with departmental, college, and university offices and committees as required. All staff members are expected to interact collegially and maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethics.

Required Qualifications

All candidates must have a Master's degree and experience related to advising or student services. A bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of related experience may substitute for the master's.

Preferred Qualifications

Education or experience that demonstrates an understanding of higher-education, assessment, administration, and a thorough working knowledge of curricula structures is preferred. Communication skills and computer skills including PC-based systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) also is preferred.

Position Description

Dickinson State University is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, and creative individual to lead Educational Enhancement Services, a Title IV TRIO Student Support Services program. The EES Program Coordinator directs a proactive academic excellence program designed to serve 200 students who are first generation, income eligible individuals, or persons with disabilities. The Coordinator ensures delivery of program activities which include academic advising, EES First Year Experience (including Summer Bridge) and academic intervention components.

Duties

Responsibilities include the hiring, training and evaluation of EES staff, compliance with federal and local regulations, and collection of data for reporting purposes.

With over 15,000 undergraduates, 30 academic departments, and more than 65 majors, the College of Liberal Arts is the university’s largest undergraduate college. CLA Student Services (CLASS) assists undergraduates in the College of Liberal Arts in identifying meaningful academic and professional goals that reflect their strengths and interests and in developing informed educational and co-curricular plans to reach those goals. CLA Student Services staff members are educators who teach students to identify and connect learning opportunities, both inside and outside the classroom, to their broader goals. By helping students to identify their strengths and interests, and by helping them discover pertinent resources, information, and options, we assist our undergraduates in making choices that will inform their education as a whole.

CLA Student Services currently is seeking three dynamic, innovative Assistant Directors of Advising to join the unit’s executive leadership team in a fast-paced, high-energy work environment. Reporting to the Director of Advising, these Assistant Directors will provide strategic leadership and vision for the advising offices (student communities) of CLA Student Services. Successful candidates will be compassionate and confident leaders with a positive attitude, exceptional work ethic, enthusiasm for the undergraduate experience, strong collaborative abilities, and a record of professional accomplishments in advising and student services. Duties

Unit and Collegiate Advising Leadership

•   Work in collaboration with the Director of Advising, other Assistant Directors, and unit’s executive leadership team to provide leadership, vision, and strategic thinking for CLASS and collegiate advising efforts.

•   Assume responsibility for portfolio of duties connected with collegiate and unit goals; develop and implement innovative programs and strategies that enhance retention, degree progress, student and staff satisfaction, and strategic partnerships.

•   Represent and promote collegiate advising by fostering and maintaining productive, collaborative relationships both within the college and across campus.

•   Partner with faculty and professional staff in our academic departments to move the college closer to its goal of a single student services enterprise.

•   Anticipate issues and research information needed as background for work of the Director of Advising.

•   Enforce performance targets and key success indicators through quantitative and qualitative analysis of workload, resource allocation, and student programming.

•   Follow through on behalf of the Director of Advising to ensure projects are completed in timely manner.

•   Contribute to budget planning process and resource allocation determinations.

•   Engage in cross-functional project development, implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement efforts.

Student Community Leadership and Management

•   Provide leadership to and direct supervision of professional academic advisors, support staff, and undergraduate peer advisors in two to three student communities.
