NACADA
is an approved provider for NBCC, National Board Certified Counselor
Credit. The forms and information needed to determine which
presentations qualify for NBCC designation are located at the
link at the end of this page. Please read all material very
carefully.
NOTE:
Only official sponsored NACADA events may offer NBCC's.
This includes only the National conference, Regional Conferences,
NACADA Institutes and Seminars and state
drive-in's that are officially sponsored by NACADA.
Non-NACADA sponsored state drive-in's and Allied member events
do not qualify for this program.
NBCC’s are reported as contact
hours or CEU’s (continuing education units). The Region
Chair notifies the Conference Program Chairs of procedures and
deadlines.
NBCC
Approved Presentations
Once the program is set, the Region Chair, or another appointed
person should review each session for NBCC credit eligibility
and categorize each according to NBCC guidelines. (See packet
sent to Regional Rep.)
Conference Committees should have NBCC
presentations approved by the Region Chair or other appointee
for NBCC credit BEFORE the program is printed.
- The Region Chair may delegate this
task to a subcommittee.
- General Sessions and Keynote Addresses
CAN be assigned continuing education contact hour credit, but
only for the ACTUAL TIME the speaker addresses the subject.
Mealtime, business meetings, etc. may not be counted.
- Approved sessions should be identified
in the printed conference program. It should also be stated
in the printed program that NBCC credits are being provided
through the National Academic Advising Association, as opposed
to the Region.
NBCC Monitoring Forms
- The Conference Chair arranges for
distribution of the monitoring forms at on-site registration.
The Executive Office will supply no carbon required NBCC Monitoring
forms for Regional Conferences only.
- The Region Chair designates who will
sign the monitoring forms. More than one person may be designated
to sign the forms (those working the on-site registration desk,
for example).
- Have each applicant fill out the NBCC
monitoring form including the appropriate signature.
- The Conference Chair or designee
must sign the form, then return the original to the applicant
sends the yellow copy (or a photocopy) of the signed monitoring
form for each applicant to the NACADA Executive Office. The
applicant keeps the original form to submit to their appropriate
organization.
Reporting
to the NACADA Executive Office
The Conference Chair is responsible for providing the following
to the NACADA Executive Office before May 1 (If your conference
is after May 1 please submit this within one week of the conference).
- A copy of the printed program marking
the NBCC approved sessions
- A copy of the Content Areas of Activities
Form
- A completed NBCC monitoring form
for each individual
- A summary of evaluations for NBCC
approved sessions
The Executive Office retains these documents
and files an annual report in May of each year with the NBCC.
It is important that these documents arrive at the Executive Office
before May 1. Be timely!
