Program Development Checklist
____ 1. Determine group’s needs and interests.
____ 2. Establish specific goals and learning objectives for the program.
____ 3. Select conference theme reflecting purpose of Regional Conference.
____ 4. Review past Regional Conference schedules and programs.
____ 5. Set number of general and concurrent sessions (check meeting room availability).
____ 6. Consider number and length of sessions and activities to offer.
____ 7. Select model for selection of presenters:
  • Only general session speaker invited, issue Call for Presentations to determine concurrent session presenters.
  • Call for Papers (Presentations) issued for every session.
 
____ 8. Balance sessions according to topics, variety, and regional appeal.
____ 9. Be sure sessions represent a diversity of presenters and topics in regard to ethnicity, gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation as well as diversity in regard to institutional type, size, and employment position.
___ 10. Select and confirm speakers and/or issue Call for Papers (Presentations) to set program content.
___ 11. Schedule sessions and consider set-up, break-down, and audio-visual requirements for each session.
___ 12. Consider special ADA needs/requests when determining room assignments.
___ 13. Evaluate traffic patterns and timing for moving crowds.
___ 14. Schedule social events and entertainment to complement rather than compete with educational sessions.
___ 15. Consider budget implications for all program decisions.

Please note: for the 2006 Regional Conferences, please plan the following sessions in addition to your regular schedule:

1. Administrator's Preconference Workshop

2.  Introduction to NACADA (formerly Orientation)

3. Welcome during Opening Session by NACADA National Representative

4. Regional Business Meeting 

5. NACADA Update and Feedback Session

6. Possible committee requested sessions
