Awareness of the needs of college-bound students with disabilities has grown significantly in the past decade. Helping the students make the right choices from among the diverse opportunities available can be a time-consuming and difficult task. The more students, parents, teachers, and academic advisors know about the student’s options, the more likely they will make a successful match.

In this live Internet broadcast, Kansas State University's Marilyn Kaff will provide information that academic advisors need when working with college students with disabilities. Marilyn will discuss:

Marilyn Kaff

Associate Professor

Department of Special Education

Kansas State University

 

Marilyn Kaff serves Kansas State Univerisity's College of Education as Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education, Counseling, and Student Affairs. In the course of her career, she has served in a variety of capacities, including paraprofessional, classroom teacher, special education teacher, inclusion facilitator, behavioral consultant, school psychologist, and college professor.

 

Marilyn's research interests include the impact of public policies on K-16 educators and students. Currently, she is working on an oral history of the field of emotional and behavioral disorders. During the summer of 2008, she spent two weeks in Tanzania educating preservice teachers who will work in special education. In addition, she provides consultation services to students with Autism who are planning on attending college.
