Would
you like to be a team leader during the NACADA Technology Seminar?
 |
Web 2.0 principles lead
educators to the inevitable conclusion that collaboration
and knowledge creation are an essential part of learning.
A Web 2.0 environment is one of participation where users
can contribute. In academic advising active participation
creates an environment in which students take initiative and
claim responsibility for their choices. At the 2008 NACADA
Technology Seminar: Advising 2.0: Utilizing Technology Effectively
for Campus-wide Advising, we hope to involve some of you in
leadership in the midst of participation. |
We know
that many of you have been exploring the use of technology in academic
advising on your own. Your experiments are a valuable part of the
learning we will do together at the seminar. We will break our small
groups into even smaller groups of four or five with a team leader.
This small team will work collaboratively to support each other
in pursuit of the goals, projects, or initiatives set for them by
their campus. Team leaders should be comfortable with web
2.0 resources, must bring a wireless laptop with which they are
already familiar, and be willing to share their experiences with
and assist a small group of four or five fellow participants.
Team leaders will have plenty of time to work on their project and
will collaborate with others interested in similar aspects of advising
and technology. Team leaders will meet at 4 PM on Wednesday,
February 11 to review the schedule for the seminar.
If you are interested in this leadership opportunity ,
look for the participation survey that will be sent to you after
you register for the Technology Seminar. On this survey you will
get a chance to let us know that you are interested in being a team
leader for the group coming from your campus, or for a group of
four or five that you will meet at the conference.
