There is little more rewarding than presenting at a Annual NACADA conference. Not only do I benefit from the research and work of putting together the presentation, but I also enjoy the experience of passing that information along and learn tremendous amounts from the conference participants who attend my session. It's a great feeling to know that the work that you do is appreciated and the information that you present is valued and valuable. I highly recommend presenting to everyone that I meet - present alone, present on a panel, - just get out there and share your ideas!
Susan M. Kolls Northeastern University

Presenting at the Annual Conference has allowed me to share my knowledge and research with others but more importantly has given me the opportunity to learn from a wide range of individuals. First year advisors, advising administrators, experienced advisors, and faculty advisors all have something to share and bringing them together at individual sessions has allowed me to expand on my ability to serve students and “borrow” from others. The bottom line is that advising is a very challenging and rewarding profession and one that is always a work in progress.

I began presenting at NACADA conferences because I love learning from other presenters. I realized that others might be excited to hear about some of the new things we have been trying on our campus as well. It has been very rewarding to have peers in my profession express their appreciation for giving them new tools/ideas to take back to their campus. A major component of advising is sharing knowledge... whether it's with our students or with each other!"

Audio-visual/Handout Hints

       Audio-visual

  • Confirm audio visual set up for your session - An audio visual chart will be posted in two places if you would like a reminder of what equipment you requested. Look for the chart on the bulletin board near the registration desk or posted on the door to the Speaker Ready room.

  • Speaker Ready Room -- if you would like to practice your presentation or store handouts prior to your session, a practice room, set with all audio-visual equipment is available. Ask at the registration desk for the room number or look in the program at the map.
  • Please review carefully your final confirmation email received in June from the Executive Office to verify the audiovisual equipment you requested. We will not be able to provide any additional equipment at the conference.

        Handout Hints

  • Post your handouts on the NACADA web page -this is the easiest way to get your handout into the hands of the attendees. If you run out of handouts you can refer the attendees to the web site to print off your handouts or you may choose to just bring a one-page outline of your session and then refer them to the upload on the NACADA homepage. Click here for instructions on how to upload your handouts now!

NOTE: Pre-conference presenters, DO NOT upload your materials to the web.
  • Please bring a minimum of 100 handouts for all concurrent and 150 for poster sessions; pre-conference workshop presenters may contact the Executive Office for the exact number of participants who have registered for your sessions. Our conference meeting rooms will accommodate a range of 70 to 325 participants; therefore, bringing this number should help insure that you have enough handouts for those in attendance at your session. Extra copies of handouts can be taken to the Exhibit/Publications area where we will have a table to display them. Participants are not able to attend all sessions and often appreciate copies of presentations they were unable to attend.
  • Please review carefully your final confirmation email received in June from the Executive Office, the email has the seating capacity of the room you will be in, plan handouts accordingly.
