The
Adult Learners Commission has some exciting opportunities for you
to become more active in the commission and in NACADA. If you are
interested in serving as a volunteer, we welcome your participation.
Volunteering does not require large time commitments, and in some
cases you are already participating in the activities.
The
commission is seeking individuals interested in serving as regional
liaisons to promote the commission within their region. You can
do this by presenting at state and regional conferences, organizing
informal gatherings of commission members at regional conferences,
and encouraging other members to attend and present at regional
meetings.
The
commission is also looking into improving the content of its website.
A committee is forming to look into the improvement of our website
content to provide more useful information to advisors, and to adult
learners seeking assistance.
Opportunities
also exist for individuals interested in reviewing conference proposals,
and reviewing nominees for commission awards.
If
you had the opportunity to attend the national conference in Dallas,
you know the exciting times that lie ahead for advisors working
with adult learners. Regional and state conferences will be coming
up soon! Let's make sure the Adult Learners Commission has a presence
at each event. Consider presenting at an upcoming conference in
your region, and consider the other great opportunities that exist
for you to become more active in the commission.
If
you are interested in serving the commission in any capacity, or
have any questions about the Adult Learners Commission, contact
Don Sebera, Commission Chair, at sebera@ohio.edu.
