Re: 2006 Post-Conference Commission Newsletter

Dear Members,

It was wonderful meeting so many of you during the annual conference in Indianapolis. Here are some updates from the Conference that have immediate bearing upon our commission.

  1. Early next year there will be elections for the 2007-2009 Commission Chair position. Please make sure that you vote for our next leader when you receive the NACADA e-mail about elections in early February 2007.
  2. Commission updates:
    • Congratulation to our commission members who are 2006 NACADA Award recipients:
      • Katie T. Davis, Fielding Graduate University, Summer Institute Scholarship
      • Doran Baker, Utah State University, Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Faculty Advising
      • Sarah Naylor, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, Research Grant Recipient
    • 342 commission members as of October 2006
    • 86 commission members attended the 2006 NACADA Annual Conference
    • 10 presentations at the 2006 NACADA Annual Conference
  3. The results of our 2006 membership survey will be published in the July 2007 issue of Academic Advising Today.

  5. Please remember to submit presentation proposals for the 2007 Regional NACADA Conferences as deadlines come up.
