Goals and Objectives for 2003-2004:
Where
We’ve Been—
- Region 5 Conferences in Indianapolis
and Madison to gain feedback on issues, direction, etc.
- Region 2 Conference in Pittsburgh to
present four-hour workshop on faculty advising
- Repeat of workshop at national conference
in Dallas
- Although overall numbers are up for
faculty joining NACADA, a decrease in numbers in the Faculty Advisor
Commission occurred this year.
- Both the keynote address and the special
session given by Dr. Richard Light were extremely well received.
Where
We’re Going—
- Further develop the workshop and present
it at all regional conferences in 2004.
- Collaboration with Advisor Training
and Development Commission
- Provide for train-the-trainers for
workshop on specific campuses as needed.
- Continue to speak out against “faculty
bashing” and all forms of disrespect of any professionals
in advising.
Other
Strategies—
- Encourage more faculty to make presentations
at regional and national conferences.
- Nominate more faculty for advising
awards.
- Arrange to make more presentations
on advising at professional organizations typically attended by
college faculty.
