Greetings

I hope everyone's semester is off to a good start. My thoughts are with our colleagues located in the colder regions and still up to their ears in snow after last month's storms. If you need a *WARM* thought right now, just imagine the national conference being held here in sunny Las Vegas this October .... Ah, yes...sparkling pools...palm trees...flip flops...and mega-jackpots ....You can feel the warm desert breeze on your face right now.... :-)

OK -- enough day dreaming -- we have work to do! The Commission is looking for members to assist with the following items:

SUBMIT A CONFERENCE PROPOSAL
By now you have received the NACADA "Call for Proposals" flier in the mail. Please remember that the deadline is TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2005. To submit a proposal, visit the NACADA web site at www.nacada.ksu.edu/2005proposals/index.htm. I encourage you to consider submitting a proposal. If this is your first time presenting, you will find helpful hints on drafting your proposal at the link above! (If your institution is facing a tight budget right now, presenting at the Conference is also a great way to get your trip funded). If you are looking for a co-presenter on a subject related to the Commission, feel free to send out a message via the commission list serve! PROPOSAL REVIEWERS NEEDED!
As you may know, each Commission is allowed to sponsor some conference proposals. At this time, I need to submit a list of reviewers from our Commission who will be responsible for selecting these sponsored proposals. The review process should only take a few weeks, meaning that it will be wrapped up by end of February. So, there is only a short-term time commitment needed. If you are interested in reviewing proposals, please e-mail your contact information to me at sorensen@egr.unlv.edu as soon as possible.

2005 NACADA ELECTIONS
Be sure to vote in the 2005 NACADA leadership elections -- the voting deadline is FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 11 (by 9 a.m. Central Time). For voting information, visit www.nacada.ksu.edu/Election/OnlineElectionProcedures.htm.

2005 NACADA AWARDS PROGRAM
The deadline is MONDAY, MARCH 7, 2005, for submitting nominations for the NACADA 2005 Awards Program. For detailed information on eligibility criteria, submission guidelines and nomination forms, visit www.nacada.ksu.edu/Awards/AwardsCall.htm on the NACADA web site.
