Statement:
The Mission statement
for the Commission will continue to guide the goals and strategies.
We will continue to identify and address critical issues related
to advising education majors. The Commission will increase the
opportunities for support by encouraging the sharing of best practices
through presentations and discussions.
My focus will be on
furthering the goals delineated by NACADA and by the members of
the Advising Education Majors Commission members. I was co-chair
of the Interest Group and was involved in the process of moving
the interst group to Commission status. I have served for the
past year as the behind-the-scenes co-chair of the Commission
and have worked very closely with the current Chair of the Commission.
Therefore, I understand the expectations and responsibilities
of this position. I will promote the concept of increased Commission
leadership roles established at the 2004 national conference meeting.
There will be further promotion of member involvement through
sharing of advising information, website and list serve information
and involvement, and enhanced collaboration for leadership, presentations,
and publications.
