Statement:
-
Highlight your involvement in this unit that will help you in
leading this unit. What roles have you played in this unit thus
far?
After
moving from a faculty to an administrative position, I also returned
to NACADA to which I belonged as a graduate student.
-
What do you believe are the most important goals and initiatives
for this unit in meeting the strategic plan for both the unit
and the Association?
I
has a strong knowledge base in both theoretical and applied areas
of counseling, have worked with students at all levels, and have
advised students on curriculum and career choice. At NDSU, my
advising duties are demanding, partly due to the intense competition
into the professional Pharmacy program.
Consistent
with our current NACADA regional goal of increasing tribal college
involvement, I teach multicultural counseling classes and have
implemented multicultural recruitment and retention efforts. I
hope to use my knowledge in this area for the good of the region.
-
Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position
or what influenced you to run for this leadership position?
Dr.
Carolyn Schnell encouraged me to serve in this position. In my
role as an Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, I often play the
role of liaison. I look forward to also serving as the liaison
between NACADA national organization and the Region 6.
-
Provide any additional comments or information regarding your
past experiences and qualifications that relate to your candidacy
for this leadership position.
I possess a strong knowledge base in both theoretical and applied
areas of counseling, have worked with students at all levels,
and advised students on curriculum and career choice. At NDSU,
my advising duties are demanding, partly due to the intense competition
into the professional Pharmacy program. I would be honored to
put these skills to use for Region 6.
