Platform
Statement:
-
Highlight your involvement in this unit that will help you in
leading this unit. What roles have you played in this unit thus
far?
The
regional steering committee is currently awaiting structural guidelines
for advising awards within the region. This will be the first
advising awards for Region 10.
Encouraged Wyoming members to host the regional conference in
2007. This will be the first time in at least 15 years that Wyoming
has hosted the conference.
- What
do you believe are the most important goals and initiatives for
this unit in meeting the strategic plan for both the unit and
the Association?
The
Regional Division is one of two prongs of the organization that
literallky touches the members where they live. The other prong
of the organization is focused on interests within academic advising
or particular student populations. The Regional Division can
have impact on all aspects of the Strategic Plan of NACADA, but
particularly in the areas of offering professional development
opportunities to our membership, influencing leaders and decision-makers
in higher education and influencing public policy regarding academic
advising.
-
Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position
or what influenced you to run for this leadership position?
I have spent the last two years learning the organizational "ropes,"
I would like to continue to learn more about the structure of
the organization. I feel that communication is one of my strengths
and I can best use it representing the Regional Chairs to the
Council.
- Provide any additional
comments or information regarding your past experiences and qualifications
that relate to your candidacy for this leadership position.
