Platform Statement:

  • Highlight your previous involvement within this unit that will help you in leading this unit. What roles have you played within this particular unit as a member thus far?

Aside from attending commission meetings, my previous schedule precluded me from participating further.

  • What do you believe are the most important goals and initiatives for this unit in meeting the strategic plan for both the unit and the Association?

Some of the goals and initiatives that I believe the commission should consider to better advise business students are

(1) work more closely with the business community to better prepare students for their respective industries,

(2) partner with career advisors to serve the specific needs of business students,

(3) remind business students of the importance of practical experience and internships and a liberal arts background in addition to their knowledge of business, and

(4) forge partnerships with other professional organizations and AACSB.

  • Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or what influenced you to run for this leadership position?

It is one thing to attend a conference and/or meeting here and there; it is another to be actively involved in the organization. Like any other experience, you get what you put into it. Therefore, I am choosing to be an active participant in NACADA and my profession. Specifically, as a young advisor and new administrator, I want to continue to grow with NACADA. Being nominated to be a commission chair is a great honor, and I would love to get more involved than what I have done in the past.

  • Provide any additional comments or information (either personal or leadership-related) that you want potential voters to know about you that is not covered elsewhere in your platform information.

Thank you to all those who have encouraged and supported me in my presentations to NACADA and service as part of planning committees. Those experiences have been a precursor for me to have a stronger involvement.
