Statement:
-
Highlight your previous involvement within this unit that will
help you in leading this unit. What roles have you played within
this particular unit as a member thus far?
I
have been keenly aware from afar of the issues concerning the
Two-Year Colleges Commission. The list serve has been a wealth
of sharing and I have gathered useful information and advice from
the sharing of ideas and knowlegde. Recently, I have decided to
become a more active member of NACADA by volunteering on a state/regional
and national level. I hope to continue growing with NACADA in
the weeks/months/years to come.
My
involvement volunteering at the national conference in Indianapolis
at the commission fair was fulfilling and when current chair,
Peggy Jordan shared with me that she wanted to nominate me for
commission chair, I was hesitant. Soon after, I agreed this would
be a great way for me to become more active with NACADA and begin
to give back more to an organization that has given much to me.
-
What do you believe are the most important goals and initiatives
for this unit in meeting the strategic plan for both the unit
and the Association?
- I would like to see two-year
colleges have a stronger voice with NACADA.
- Showcase all the wonderful,
dynamic programs that are ongoing on our campuses nationwide.
One way to showcase is to see more workshops at regional/national
conferences.
- Why are
you interested in serving in this leadership position or what
influenced you to run for this leadership position?
Again, I have gotten so much from my membership with NACADA, I
wanted to begin to give back my time and talents. I probably would
have eased into it more, but Peggy Jordan encouraged me to accept
the nomination so I am.
