Platform Statement:
Highlight your previous involvement within this unit that
will help you in leading this unit. What roles have
you played within this particular unit as a member thus far? |
I have been involved with the Region 10 Steering Committee by researching
the current membership institutions and following up with information
to the committee concerning state institutions with little or no
NACADA membership. I have served as a member of the May 07 regional
conference proposal review committee, hospitality committee, and
registration worker.
What do you believe are the most important goals and initiatives
for this unit in meeting the strategic plan for both the unit and
the Association?
Increasing the membership within the Region is an important
goal that will further the strategic plan of the organization. To
increase the membership, it is important to demonstrate the core
values in our daily work. Serving as a role model will encourage
others to join NACADA and benefit from one's membership.
Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or
what influenced you to run for this leadership position?
My
interest in running for Chair of Region 10 is a manifestation of
my desire to be of service to the advisors of the region and the
national organization in a broader way. Additionally, I hope to
continue to develop professionally within NACADA.
Provide any additional comments or information (either
personal or leadership-related)
that you want potential voters to know about you that is not covered
elsewhere in your platform information.
I
have been involved in community service organizations for many years
and have served in leadership positions. I understand the time and
energy commitments and am willing to put forth the required efforts
to achieve the desired results. I have been a professional academic
advisor since 1990 and continually find the work and the people
doing the work to be a source of inspiration. We may not get the
spotlight, but we certainly make daily impacts on the lives of our
students and our institutions. We can work together to increase
the status of our work and I'd like to help with that.
