the Association ?
Three
goals --
- Professional Development and Recognition
-- Create an Advising Business Majors certification program. Allowing
commission members to be recognized for the extra effort/education
put forward each year toward advising excellence for our students.
Components of the certification could include:
- Presentation at NACADA event
- Attendance at NACADA sponsored event
- Auditing a business foundation course
- Attendance at Career Fair
- New program and assessment
- Student organization advisor
- Commission web site improvement
- Problem and possible solution
- Quick reference links
- Experienced mentors for new advisors
- Advising Business Majors Handbook -
quick reference.
- Theory and practice
- Areas of study
- Career opportunities.
- Alternatives and compliments
Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or
what influenced you to run for this leadership position?
I
seek collegial relationships with other business advisors to expand
and energize the Advising Business Majors Commission. NACADA has
provided a wonderful networking opportunity - allowing me to pursue
my special interest of advising business majors at large public
institutions. I have been working closely with business advisors
from other Big Ten institutions for the past three years and successfully
organized a Big Ten Undergraduate Business Conference scheduled
for May 1 & 2, 2009. However, due to the current state of the
economy, this year's conference was cancelled. The Big Ten Undergraduate
Business Conference is now targeted for 2010.
Provide
any additional comments or information (either
personal or leadership-related)
that you want potential voters to know about you that is not covered
elsewhere in your platform information.
