Statement:
Highlight
your previous involvement within this unit that will help
you in leading this unit. What roles have you played within
this particular unit as a member thus far? |
I
have been quite active in the past three years with the Two-Year
Colleges Commission. I have reviewed proposals, worked the two-year
table at the CIG fairs at the National, and have championed two-year
issues at the state and regional level.
What do you believe are the most important goals and initiatives
for this unit in meeting the strategic plan for both the unit and
the Association?
-
Continue to increase our presence and participation at the State,
Regional and National level.
- Garner
and promote more interest in presenting at State, Regional and
National conferences.
- Increase
membership in NACADA from two-year colleges.
Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or
what influenced you to run for this leadership position?
My renewed interest and participation in NACADA in 2003, when I
changed institutions, has invigorated me both professionally and
personally. I grew as an advisor and desire to give something back
to this organization that has helped me in so many ways.
When I began my career at a two-year college, my initial desire
was to garner some experience and seek employment at a four-year
college after a couple of years. I fell in love with the mission
and philosophy of a community college and now have no desire of
returning to a four-year college/university.
NACADA has fostered much of my desire to bring two-year issues to
the forefront. I look forward to my relationship with NACADA, in
any capacity, in the future.
Provide any additional comments or information (either
personal or leadership-related)
that you want potential voters to know about you that is not covered
elsewhere in your platform information.
My desire to serve the two-year community mirrors my desire to advise
the students I serve. I will listen to the needs of our group and
led us to greater accomplishments in our future.
