What
do you believe are the Division's most important goals and initiatives
in meeting the strategic plan for both the Division and the Association? How
do you feel you can be of benefit to the NACADA Council in meeting
the Association's strategic plan and initiatives?
While all NACADA goals carry importance for the Commission and Interest
Group Division, there are two goals that seem to align very closely
with the purpose of the CIG Division.
-
Advance the body of knowledge of academic advising.
Within the commissions and interest groups, chairs and members
will be encouraged to contribute to the scholarly activity of
advising through research, publications, and presentations and
collaboratively with other professional organizations.
- Ensure
the effectiveness of the NACADA organization. By fostering
the talents of all members involved in the commissions and interest
groups, NACADA's visibility will be far reaching nationally and
internationally.
Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or
what influenced you to run for this leadership position?
NACADA has played a significant role in my professional career for
many years. Through the association, I have grown as an advising
professional while the organization itself has matured into a thriving
and exciting resource for seasoned and new professionals. The many
networking and professional relationships have helped to shape me
as an advisor nationally and locally. It is my hope that I can return
to the organization the variety of experiences that have helped
to build my career.
Provide any additional comments or information (either
personal or leadership-related)
that you want potential voters to know about you that is not covered
elsewhere in your platform information.
The Commission and Interest Group Division is a vital component
of NACADA's organizational structure. I will work diligently with
NACADA members at all levels to ensure effectiveness to the association
as well as to the profession. Commission and interest groups chairs
will be accountable to their members for contributions to the overall
mission of the organization. Members will be encouraged to collaborate
with others in order to cross-pollinate new ideas. Motivating others
will be important in order to champion the role of advisors in making
a contribution to the association nationally and internationally.
