BECOMING A MENTEE

Have you been in an advising role three years or less? Do you see advising as a career and not just a job? Do you want to grow in your advising role but are unsure how to begin? Do you like to read, write, and research the topics surrounding academic advising but are hesitant to submit a conference proposal because the idea of public speaking is terrifying? Consider becoming a mentee for the Region 4 Mentoring Program! Your mentor will work one-on-one with you to create realistic goals that will guide you on your way to becoming a life-long advising professional.

As a mentee, you will:

  • Learn from someone that has been in the advising profession for four or more years.
  • Connect with advising colleagues across Region 4.
  • Establish a working relationship with your mentor and receive guidance with outlining your professional development goals.
  • Grow as an advising professional by increasing your knowledge about advising best practices.
  • Maintain continuous professional development by holding yourself accountable to goal creation, revisions, and executions until your goals are met.
  • Become familiar with the opportunities available to you as an advising professional that exist within NACADA.
