Position Description

  • Provide academic and career advising to online students via web, email, telephone, canvas, and in person
  • Monitor academic progress, including probation, honors, and progression through degree requirements
  • Utilize campus resources and assessments to provide career advising to online students
  • Serve as liaison to other key students services offices at UF (i.e., Admissions, Registrar, Financial Services, Financial Aid, Disability Resources, Bookstore) for students at a distance
  • Handle email, phone and in-person inquiries from prospective students and advise or refer them appropriately

Duties

  • Manage technology related to advising, and communicating with a diverse population of online students
  • Work with UF’s admissions and advising systems and Online Business program databases
  • Coordinate with Guild Education to develop advising supports for working populations
  • Support collaboration with corporate partners to recruit and advise students
  • Coordinate and/or participate in program related events (i.e. Orientation, Graduation, REACH, HCW)
  • Assist with development of and participate in virtual orientations for online students each semester

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in education, counseling, or an academic field directly related to the advisor’s area of responsibility and one year of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or an academic field directly related to the advisor’s area of responsibility and two years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer experience in the field of education, counseling, psychology, or a related area and with non-traditional students.
