Position Description

The incumbent in this position serves as an Academic Advisor within the Academic Advising Team within the UF Innovation Academy.  The primary responsibility of this position includes providing high quality undergraduate advising to innovation academy students. These responsibilities include but are not limited to collaboration with departmental advising faculty and staff across the participating IA colleges, working with students through the probation process, active engagement with students and families during orientation (Preview), assessment of advising outcomes, data analysis and reporting, undergraduate and/or transfer recruitment and active participation in the University Advising Council.


This Advisor must possess or be willing to hone the following key attributes:  strong communication skills and willingness to communicate, a mentality that embraces a team spirit, an openness to follow or lead when necessary, a passion for undergraduate student development, and a strong desire to grow professionally.  To this end, specific responsibilities of this Advisor are detailed below:

  • Responsible for advisement/counseling of Innovation Academy students as it relates to the IA innovation minor and IA related advising issues.

  • Must be responsive to and willing to serve under the leadership of the Assistant Director for the Innovation Academy and able to interface professionally as a team member in the Innovation Academy office.

  • Must possess a collaborative, team mentality when interfacing with partners on the UF campus.

Additional Information

$45,500 - $47,500; commensurate with education and experience.

This requisition will fill multiple positions.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in education, counseling, or an academic field directly related to the advisor's area of responsibility and one year of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or an academic field directly related to the advisor's area of responsibility and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualification

Master’s degree preferred. 

Experience in advising and counseling students at the undergraduate level preferred. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

Working knowledge of University of Florida regulations and procedures to facilitate recruitment and student counseling preferred.

Must demonstrate professionalism at all times.
