Position Description

The Department of Biology has an opening for an Academic Adviser to be part of an advising team focused on premajor/major students interested in the Biology Program.


The successful candidate will have prior advising experience and a track record of commitment to serving diverse student populations. Duties will include providing academic advising to students, assisting in navigating university policies and procedures and curriculum, and coordinating special events and programs which directly assist undergraduate students. The successful candidate will assist with New Student Orientation (NSO), meet with parents and prospective students, advise students, make presentations, and work directly with the Director for Undergraduate Biology Advising along with fellow advisers and administrative assistants to support the departmental mission. We are seeking an individual who is committed to working with the advising team to provide high quality service to students and who will work to enhance the climate for the diverse student population in the department. Required Qualifications

Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

A graduate degree in the Sciences is required and a degree in Biology/Life Sciences is preferred.
