This position will provide high quality, pro-active advising support to first and second year students while also coordinating the mechanics of academic probation initiatives. This position will coordinate and execute all aspects of the New Student Orientation program and the Online Orientation program and the Academic Planners. This role will be required to manage advising data for future reporting. This position will work in the Academic Advising Center, who as a team will support Complete College America goals, develop campus partnerships, and serve as a liaison to NSC departments and schools. This position should have an entrepreneurial spirit-collaborating on ideas and systems to improve advising methods as the College grows. This position will also a collaborative team member helping to develop and deliver advising materials and workshops to students.
Provide academic advising to students under 60 credits in disciplines assigned by Director of Student Academic Support Services Initiate contact with new admits to inform them of the upcoming orientation dates, placement scores and registration. Support 60+ faculty advisor inquiries or requests for information/training. Facilitate walk-in advising on assigned days.Communicate with students via in-person appointments, telephone calls, and email. Assess the student’s stage of development and promote their growth through the analysis of options and realistic/attainable academic and career goals.Identify options for students to satisfy degree requirements and recommend a program of study to assist in completion. Act as a liaison to campus departments and give students resources to complete procedures on campus such as (but not limited to): academic petitions, financial aid petitions, registration, withdrawal, major change, and student information updates. Audit and report errors in student Degree Audit Reports to the Associate Registrar. Coordinate with various offices like Registrar’s, Placement, Admissions, and Deans on aspects of the Orientation programs. Maintain and coordinate contacts with outside vendors for all aspects of orientation. Update and maintain accuracy of the online orientation program and academic planners. Maintain all advising data and provide reports to the Director of Student Academic Support Services and/or Provost as required.
