Position Description
The College of Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking to fill two Academic Advisor positions. The Academic Advisor works as part of the advising team to provide academic advising, which includes advising incoming freshmen, transfers, current, prospective students, and non-degree students in planning academic programs, course sequencing and other transition functions for undergraduate students into pre-majors, majors, and minors. The Advisor provides expertise in core curriculum, identifies major program requirements, and guides students through the major exploration process. The Advisor creates and maintains individual student records and maintains a database of student contacts. The Advisor will participate in retention activities for the students. The Advisor works as a team member with the other department advisors and various entities on campus to address and manage student concerns and needs for graduation. The Advisor will perform other duties as assigned.The successful candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, advanced computer skills, and strong organizational, decision making, and interpersonal skills.The College of Engineering has over 2000 undergraduate students and is continually growing. With this growth, supporting our students on the educational journey is a major focus.Salary range: $39,100 – $42,500

Qualifications:
 

Required Qualifications 
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and two years of experience, to include at least one year of academic advising, teaching, student services, or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with college level academic advising.
