The Academic Advisor within the Department of Advising, Recruitment, and Retention (DARR) in the Division of Health Sciences (DHS) advises prospective, new, continuing, and transfer undergraduate students in DHS majors and minors with general academic and specific curricular requirements.This is an entry-level position that reports directly to the Manager, Advising Recruitment and Retention, Division of Health Sciences.The University of Nevada, Reno is the land-grant University for the State of Nevada with an enrollment of approximately 18,000 students. The campus has a long and rich tradition of student involvement and a proactive student services program. Located at the base of the Sierra Crest in the Truckee Meadows, Reno’s outdoor recreation possibilities are unlimited. Lake Tahoe is a short 45-minute drive west from downtown Reno, offering opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, and camping.
The Academic Advisor assists with on- and off-campus advising, retention and recruitment activities as well as assistance with tracking and reporting activities of the Advisor and the Center.

Relevant Experience: Direct student contact, communication, knowledge of academic requirements and higher education policies and procedures: experience in a field related to academic advising/counseling or student services
Schedule or Travel Requirements: Some evenings and weekends
