Position Description

The Department of Hospitality Management seeks to fill an Academic Advisor position. This full-time position will provide service to undergraduate students pursuing a degree in hospitality management. The individual will help students plan and set academic goals, advise students efficiently to achieve academic requirements for graduation, provide oversight for hospitality ambassadors, and will coordinate marketing efforts to include developing and maintaining social media outlets and marketing the department at national and state events.

  • Undergraduate academic advising (approximately 200 students).
  • Includes transfer advising and summer orientation and enrollment.
  • Provide oversight for hospitality management undergraduate ambassadors.
  • Actively pursue public relations; recruit students; plan and execute student events; manage social media, marketing materials, and weekly student newsletter.
  • Assist with administrative support, including facilitation of HM 101: Orientation to Hospitality Management, student record keeping, data analysis, KSIS tasks, internships/practicums, alumni database, and assist with accreditation reports.

Additional Information

$ 36,674 - $ 56,845 annual salary

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • One year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, public relations, mass communication, or related experience.
  • Experience in undergraduate student recruitment and/or university student advising. 
  • Master’s degree in Academic Advising, or related-field or Academic Advising Graduate Certificate
  • Computer competency, outstanding written communication skills, ability to speak effectively in front of large groups, demonstrated effectiveness in working with diverse individuals in a variety of settings, and demonstrated ability to work as a team member.
  • Ability to work independently.
