Description:
The University of California, Merced is the newest and tenth campus of the University of California system and the first American research university built in the 21st century. Duties
The Academic Advisor and Student Success Coordinator is responsible for development and implementation of programs to support the academic success of students served by the School and collaboration in campus wide efforts that support student success, including at-risk interventions. Coordinates, trains and provides leadership/mentoring to the Peer Mentor Program.Uses professional concepts in providing prescriptive advise on academic policies and procedures for an academic department/college/school, including major and minor requirements, and all aspects of course requirements for degree or program completion. Works independently on issues that are straightforward and/or have clear guidelines. Receives assistance on more complex issues.

*Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
*Master's preferred.
*Basic knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
*Knowledge of departmental/school/college courses and majors.
*Knowledge of department/school/college policies, procedures, and requirements.
*Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving.
*Abilities in problem identification, reasoning, ability to develop original idea to solve problems.
*Strong written and verbal communication skills, including active listening.
*Ability to multi-task.
