Position Description
Provides students with assistance selecting majors and/or careers, offers academic advising to students who are exploring or changing majors, provides information about careers and employment opportunities, and assists students in the job search process.  

Duties
1) Assists students with selection of majors and careers; offers academic advising to students who are exploring or changing majors; provides information about careers and the job search process. Works with students individually and in groups.
2) Conducts workshops, makes presentations in classes and to student groups on careers, decision-making, and job search strategies; teaches career exploration classes; makes presentations on University graduation requirements and policies/procedures.
3) Collaborates with others in support of department, division and University goals.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree, preferably in counseling or related discipline, and 1-2 years of relevant higher education experience.
- Ability to counsel students in decision-making processes related to choice of majors and/or careers and to provide information on the job search strategies.
- Ability to analyze, synthesize and explain complex University requirements and policies/procedures.
- Familiarity with career assessment instruments.- Knowledge of career fields and the employment market.
- Ability to work with diverse populations, communicate effectively (both orally and in writing)
- Ability to use Banner/Student Information System (SIS), Talisma (CRM), and other computer programs.
- Ability to deliver effective group presentations (e.g. presentations for new students, classroom presentations, and career exploration & job search workshops).
- Ability to work as part of a team.  

Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of MBTI qualifying training and/or Strong Interest Inventory certification.
- Experience at an large public university.
