This position provides academic counseling through advising, guiding, and registering students. The incumbent advises and counsels students concerning admission requirements, degree requirements and course selection; participates in activities associated with the registration of students; monitors student academic progress, and maintains student record files.
Advises and counsels students and potential students concerning admission requirements, degree requirements, course selection, and related functions by utilizing undergraduate and graduate catalogs as well as other information.
Maintains current information concerning major and minor requirements as well as degree requirements in the various academic areas.
Communicates with academic departments, administrative offices, branch campuses, and other applicable offices to ensure compliance with current requirements and procedures.
Assists students, faculty and departments with questions regarding academic rules, regulations, and policies.
Establishes and maintains student record files for class credit and transfer work.
Monitors students’ academic progress through the course of degree program.
Counsels students regarding degree program options to ensure students can make informed decisions about degree choices.
Reviews and evaluates degree applications.
Audits records of potential graduating seniors and certifies the records of graduates and honor students to the Office of the Registrar.
Provides recommendations related to academic scheduling and frequency of courses offered.
This position may require occasional travel to various off-campus locations related to the position and may require hours outside of the normal 8 – 5 workday.
Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
