Position Description

The associate director provides leadership in and direct oversight for AASC academic support efforts intended to improve students’ academic performance. Student-success activities include: Learning Assistant Program; Tutorial Services; study-skills development and support; ACAD course portfolio; academic coaching; and other student-success programming, events, and initiatives.


  • Assess intended student learning outcomes
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with academic departments, faculty and student success units across the University
  • Provide oversight for budgets for Learning Assistants, Tutoring, ACAD, workshops and coaching
  • Ensure proper documentation and tracking of student participation in services
  • Oversee AASC facilities, physical resources, and supplies associated with academic support services
  • Provide direct supervision for Academic Support Coordinators, Graduate Assistants and student employees
  • Provide direction and oversight of ACAD student success courses including: ACAD 101 - Student Success Topics ACAD 102 - Academic Recovery and Success ACAD 106 - Library Research ACAD 107 - Prepare for Online Learning ACAD 108 - Career and Life Planning
  • Teach one or more section of ACAD 101Provide executive oversight of the Academic Coaching Program
  • Maintain a minimum caseload of coaching mentees and provide customized support to individual students as needed
  • Serve on university-wide committees

Salary - $66,082 Per year based on experience

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (or its equivalent)
  • Five years of related professional experience
  • One year of managerial experience of professional staff
  • Experience with quantitative analysis and data-driven decision making

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited graduate program and 3 years same type of work or Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership, Curriculum Development, Student Development or other applicable discipline
  • Experience using statistical software packages for assessment of student programming
