Position Description

WKCTC is a comprehensive community college that provides excellence in teaching and learning, promotes student success, and supports economic development.The College Counselor position is responsible for working with faculty, staff and students for academic advising, transfer advising, career counseling, personal coaching and retention for new and current students.

Duties

•Assists faculty, staff, and students with academic advising about programs, courses, transfer, and careers.

•Advises new students of academic process and generalized direction to enhance academic success.

•Counsels students using web-based career and education guidance system and makes academic and career recommendations.

•Facilitates retention and completion through personal coaching with new and returning students.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will possess a Masters degree in Student Affairs, Education, Counseling, Communications or a related discipline.
  • In addition, he/she must have demonstrated excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.

Preferred Qualification

  • Working knowledge of advising and curriculum and previous experience leading projects across multiple departments with high levels of diplomacy is strongly preferred.
