Position Description

The Director of the Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences Advising Center is responsible for establishing a vision for the Advising Center and implementing the strategic initiatives outlined by the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies and the Senior Administrative Officer. Developing collaborative relationships with internal and external partners will be a responsibility of the incumbent. The Director will work closely with other senior Undergraduate Studies staff to promote student retention and successful degree completion, as well as be responsible for all personnel administration, development and oversight of the budget, and oversight of all administrative functions for the Advising Center

Duties

The incumbent will be responsible for refining the developmental academic advising model for undecided and undeclared students, primarily first-year students, sophomores, and transfer students. The Director will plan, manage, and implement academic advising initiatives across all academic departments within the School.The incumbent will administer comprehensive training for advisors in the Advising Center and academic departments; oversee assessment of advising and utilize information to improve practices; monitor best practices, new technology, and changing needs of the student population; and use data and emerging research to monitor student progress and identify barriers to student success.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

Master's degree and 5 - 6 years of experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

Extensive experience in hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of personnel.

Extensive knowledge of academic advising, retention strategies, assessment, data collection and analysis, and budgeting and financial analysis.
