Position Description

The Director of Academic Support Services provides visionary leadership in the development and delivery of services to enhance the academic growth of students and reinforce the student-centered learning environment. The Director will provide administrative direction and leadership for a number of related programs and for developing solutions, new projects and processes to support student success and retention.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree; 3 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education academic support programs;

  • Experience with supplemental instruction;

  • Experience with early alert programs;

  • Strong understanding of with academic recovery programs;

  • Demonstrated experience with in-class instruction;

  • Proven ability to develop long range planning and budget administration;

  • Strong written and oral communication skills;

  • Demonstrated commitment to work with diverse populations;

  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office and Starfish or other CSM systems).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, human resources or a closely related field;
  • 5-years of progressively responsible experience in a college or university academic support area;
  • Experience working with academic departments;
  • Ability to use both data and judgment in decision making;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills especially those in the areas of collaboration, conflict resolution, problem solving and decision-making;
  • Strong organization and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and constituents;
  • Ability to work well without close supervision;
  • Experience with student success, enrollment and issues of retention.
